First, how did the company begin?

Camp Chef’s History

Camp Chef has been a leader in the pellet grill industry since 1995. Camp Chef manufactures nearly all outdoor cooking equipment.

It doesn’t matter whether you need some outdoor cooking done for campouts, dinners, or a neighborhood party, the Camp Chef has got your back.

Camp Chef was founded by the manufacturer to offer the community better outdoor cooking experiences.

Camp Chef discovered that many campers and athletes wished they could cook outside. Unfortunately, no cooking equipment was made to meet their needs.

That’s why Camp Chef came in to create a stove that caters to the needs of outdoorsmen.

Today, the company produces a variety of equipment to make outdoor cooking easier.

However, Camp Chef has it’s headquarter in cake Valley, Utah. Its products are made to meet the needs of highly regarded customers.

Why should you buy from Camp Chef?

Most of Camp Chef grills usually reach over 500°F. This was higher than any other pellet grills that I reviewed.

Most of their products can be used with more than one fuel source. Camp Chef wood can run on propane gas or wood pellets. So you don’t have a problem cooking outdoor or from the backyard.

They are typically portable and can be stored in a small space. They are easy to store, clean, and maintain.

This Camp Chef pellet grill’s set-and forget feature is one of the reasons why it made it to the top in our Camp Chef pellet grill reviews. The PG24DLX pellet grill is very easy to use, and fully automated to ensure your satisfaction.

Our research team also confirmed Camp Chef PG24DLX to have the highest number of positive reviews. Amazon.  You will love its many great features such as the digital temperature control, auto-auger dispenser, ash cleanse system, meat probe, and others. It is also selling quickly.

I am very pleased with the build quality of the DLX series pellet barbecue. Many users claim that they have used the pellet grill for more than 4 years without any problems.

This grill can be used to grill, bake, roast, smoke, or barbeque. It is also very affordable.

Let’s get into details about the Camp Chef PG24DLX.

Quality is key

If you want an excellent outdoor cooking experience, you’ll consider the build quality of your product. This pellet grill from Campchef doesn’t disappoint.

Lucky Campchef has incorporated a heavy-metal structure into this model. The 127 pound unit is sturdy and durable. I have to commend Camp Chef for spending a lot on this unit. It’s no surprise that this pellet grill is one of the most reliable on the market. You can replace parts of the pellet grill, such as the hinges or burn cup, to make it last longer.

Heat diffusers are usually subject to thermal stress.  That’s why Camp Chef manufactures this model using premium quality stainless steel material.

Hopper drain chute

This grill comes with a cool feature that I couldn’t find in many pellet grill models.

One of them is a pellet Hopper drain chute. This feature allows you to quickly change the flavor of your cooking, which can result in a better cooking experience.

Cooking space

Camp Chef SmokePro SG offers 429 square feet of cooking space and a 6 x24 inches dimension. It is the perfect place to prepare your favorite BBQ.

You will find the shelves and sear box on each side of your grill. There are also utility racks.

Automatic shut off

I noticed that the automatic shut-off feature could only be found in the DLX Series. And it’s here with the Camp Chef PG24DLX. Your pellet grill will automatically stop cooking once it is done.

SmokePro BBQ Sear Box

Searing is a problem with most pellet smokers. This pellet grill is no exception.

Camp Chef offers the option to sear your food using the SmokePro BBQ Sear Box. You will need to remove the shelf on the right and place the sear burner.

Temperature Control

One of the best features of the Camp Chef Woodwind SG 24 grill is the temperature control. To maintain a consistent temperature, the auger automatically feeds the pellet to your grill. I set the grill on the desired temperature until all the food is cooked.

The pellet grill is equipped with temperature probes to monitor the temperature. Thanks to the convection fan, your cooking temperature is accurately maintained to ensure that you don’t have a cold and hot area.

You can also set the temperature of your grill to high, low, or even to a shut down mode with digital control smoke settings. I love the high output of 25,000 BTU. Also, the temperature range is between 160-500°F with high accuracy.

Simple to use

Unpack your grill and get cooking immediately after you have purchased it. The assembly instructions are easy to follow. It’s a step by step guide so you can quickly assemble your grill on the go.

Auto start ignition

Also, here’s the good part; you can easily power on your grill with the auto-start ignition feature. You don’t need to burn your fingers or use matches anymore.

Ash cleanout system

One of the best ways to make sure your grill is clean and well-maintained is with an Ash Cleanout System. This feature was created by Camp Chef.

The ash cup traps the ashes beneath the smoke chamber. But not all ashes are caught. It does a great job of removing the ashes from the firepots.

I’ll advise you to remove the ashes from the smoke chamber.  This is what I do every time.

The two-wheel system allows the grill to be moved easily. You can transport your grill to another neighborhood.

One-year warranty

This product was a pleasure to use. The one-year warranty is a huge plus and another way of ensuring its high quality build.

Price

This grill offers incredible value for money despite being a bit expensive. Don’t be discouraged with the high expense; you’ll be getting an amount that supersedes the price.

In a nutshell

If you’re looking for a pellet grill that offers real value for the money, then you should look into the direction of Camp Chef SmokePro SG Wood Pellet Grill Smoker. It is built to withstand extreme weather conditions and can be used to cook your favorite BBQ.

2. Camp Chef Woodwind SG 24 Pellet Grill with Sidekick Stove/Griddle Accessory – World’s Most Versatile Wood BBQ Grill

Camp Chef Woodwind SG 24 Pellet Grill with Sidekick Stove/Griddle Accessory – World’s Most Versatile Wood BBQ Grill

View at Amazon

Okay, now let’s move to the second grill on our Camp Chef pellet grill review. I’ve been an avid user of Camp Chef pellet grill, and I’ve never regretted purchasing it.

Camp Chef recently introduced a new model to the woodwind family: the Camp Chef WoodwindSG Pellet Grill.

The new grill has many amazing features, which I found to be both surprising and incredible. And I’ll walk you through all of them comprehensively. Continue reading.

What’s included in the box?

When I got my SG Amazon (pretty fast delivery), it was well packaged in a pallet and wasn’t challenging to assemble. I began by installing the chimney. I assembled the legs, handles, and gearbox in under an hour.

Pre-burn in

It’s always common to have oils and residues used during manufacturing left in the grill. That’s why I always recommend doing a burn-in before the first use.  That way, all the oils, and residues left won’t affect the taste of your cooking.

Run the grill at a 225°F temperature, for, probably, a few hours. And that’s all; you can enjoy your pellet grill on the go.

Slide and grill technology

Camp Chef is the one who made this possible. What’s the slide and grill about?

It is a new technology that Camp Chef has introduced to help you grill even from your smoker.

You can slide the heat deflector out of your firepot. This will allow the flame to move higher, allowing more heat to flow to the vents.

 # Cooking Space

The woodwind’s initial cooking space is 400 square inches. There’s also a warming rack. I’ve cooked with it on several occasions, and it did just fine.

The Camp Chef also added a 400 square inch rack to the top of the chamber, just like the new SG model. That’s a cooking space of a total of 800 square inches.

Camp Chef cut the model in half on the part that had to do with the cooking grates. It was something I was glad to see.

The Hopper

On The hopper is 18 pounds heavier than the previous woodwind model. Most pellet bags are 20 pounds. This means you need to put some of your pellets away. Fortunately, SG has a solution.

It now has a 22-pound pellet capacity. It can hold as much pellets as you want. The SG’s front window allows you to see how many pellets are in your possession.

Ash Cup Cleanout

The ash cup, which captures the ashes, is found beneath the smoke chamber. It is important to note that not all ashes are caught. It does a great job of removing the ashes from the firepots.

I’ll advise you to remove the ashes from the smoke chamber.  This is what I do every time.

Gearbox

The sear box is why I included SG in our Camp Chef best pellet grill review. On On the right side of the grill is the attached propane-grilled sear box. And luckily, it cooks for over 900°F.

On You will find the lid and the knob that monitors heat level in the searbox.

Please note that the SG can be purchased with a griddle. This is the sidekick. You can choose this option when you purchase.

The digital Controller

The SG controller does an average job, just like other pellet grills. It’s usually 25°F below or above the desired temperature and at an average temperature. We don’t complain since we were able to bake excellent cakes, pies, biscuits, and lots more.

In a nutshell

Camp Chef Woodwind SG is a top-rated pellet grill, especially with its 22-pound hopper and great racks. The sear box is a great addition. Overall, it is a great investment.

3. Camp Chef Pursuit Portable Pellet Grill

Camp Chef PPG20 Pursuit Portable Pellet Grill

If there’s any better word to qualify this pellet grill from Camp Chef, obviously, it’s portability. Camp Chef Pursuit Portable Pellet Grill is the best choice for camping trips.

What’s inside the box?

I love the fact that the large box containing the grill was well protected during shipping.  You will receive your package clean and spotless.

It can be folded down to make it portable. It was super easy to fold the legs and place it correctly. This took me less than a minute.

Here are what’s inside the box:

  • Pellet grill
  • 2 meat probes
  • Controller
  • Ash cleaning and locking clasps
  • Bottle opener

Slide and grill

The slide and grill technology are also available on this pellet grill like in the SG.

It is a new technology that Camp Chef has introduced to help you grill even from your smoker.

You can slide the heat deflector out of your firepot. This will allow the flame to move higher, allowing more heat to flow to the vents.

This pellet grill doesn’t have a chimney, but it lets the smoke go out through the cutouts.

Grates

Camp Chef PPG20 comes equipped with full grates at both the top and bottom. This is a great feature for a portable pellet grill.

The grates are 501 square in area and measure 18.25 by 13.5 by 13.5 inches.

Hopper

The hopper has a locking clasp that keeps your pellet intact and safe when being transported. The grate is designed so that children can’t get their hands in the pellets while running.

As advised earlier: It’s always common to have oils and residues used during manufacturing left in the grill. That’s why I always recommend doing a burn-in before the first use.  That way, all the oils and residue lefts won’t affect the taste of your cooking.

Run the grill at a 225°F temperature, for, probably, a few hours. And that’s all; you can enjoy your pellet grill on the go.

I would have liked to see the hopper on the grill come with a pellet dump. But I don’t think that’s not a problem.

It’s not too hard to determine how many pellets you will need for a particular food. Make sure you add a pellet that’s enough for your cooking. It’s fine to add 1 lb per hour. Make sure you monitor the pellet to see if it’s enough.

The leg doesn’t look stable. It may be falling apart, I fear.

If you’re a regular fan of camping, then I recommend this best Camp Chef pellet grill. It is highly portable, and I’m quite sure you’re going to love it.
