What We Didn’t Like

  • Additional accessories are required to connect to the smart assistant

According to the manufacturer, this lock will last for 8766hrs with the 4 included AA battery. We’re not about waiting around to see if that’s true, but we feel certain that it will last a long time. This is also confirmed by the reviews.

We love Schlage and have included their products on our list several times. Users say that this lock holds up well to the elements, as with other products on this list.

One thing we weren’t quite fond of was the price tag. It was more than $300, which we found a little disappointing. However, considering the quality and features it offers, we can understand why it is priced so high.

Although it is more expensive, it is easy to install, has long battery life, and is affordable for new users.

  • Only 6 user codes are required
  • Latch problems reported

We chose this as our most affordable smart lock, but it is not rated for outdoor use, which is why it’s so cheap. It can’t be placed in areas where it might be exposed to snow and rain.

It is also easy to install and has many other useful features. We had no complaints about its build quality. However, it is still not waterproof. It would make an excellent addition to an interior garage door.

How to choose the Best Smart Lock Door Handles

There are many smart locks, and new models are appearing on store shelves all the time. How can you choose the right lock to fit your home? Here are some factors to consider when choosing smart lock options.

Where will the lock be used?

Are you looking to upgrade your front door? Or will it be used indoors? When choosing a lock for your front door, durability is a major consideration.

Take into account your budget when choosing a lock. This can limit or allow for certain features. Our list includes locks ranging from less than $100 up to nearly $400.

The features of the most expensive and cheapest products on our list are vastly distinct. Smart locks can only be used with accessories, so make sure to consider this cost if you are looking for connectivity or other features.

How often will the lock be used?

Battery life is a major factor in your decision if the handle is used frequently, such as in an office setting. It may not matter as much if it is for your front or garage doors.

Aesthetic

Is your home or office designed to appeal to a modern aesthetic? These locks come in a variety of styles, which can be as varied as the prices. Some brands sell locks that can be coordinated so you can match your interior and exterior door locks.
